Governor Mike Beebe issued a proclamation setting Tuesday, April 14, 2015, as the special election date to fill the District 16 senate seat vacated by the resignation of former State Senator Michael Lamoureux.

Lamoureux resigned from the Arkansas Senate to become Governor-Elect Hutchinson’s chief of staff.

His resignation leaves the State Senate with just 34 members presently. Republicans control 23 of those senate seats, while Democrats have 11.

The special primary election for the Democratic and Republican parties will be held on Tuesday, January 13.

If needed, a special primary runoff will occur on Tuesday, February 10.
