Catholic Health Promotes Banko, Will Stay At St. Vincent

Peter Banko, president and CEO of CHI St. Vincent in Little Rock, has been named Catholic Heath Initiatives’ senior vice president and group executive officer of the east/southeast division and also chief integration officer.
Banko will maintain his duties as president and CEO at CHI St. Vincent.
According to a press release, he also will oversee CHI Memorial in Chattanooga, Tenn.; CHI St. Joseph Health in Reading, Penn.; and Saint Clare’s Health System in Denviile, New Jersey. He also will oversee the integration of Memorial Health System of East Texas into Houston-based CHI St. Luke’s Health and will be in charge of CHI’s national integration team.
He starts his new job Sept. 22.
Banko came to St. Vincent as its CEO in 2007 and has more than three decades of experience in health care. He previously served four years as chief operating officer and vice president of CHRISTUS Spohn Health System in Corpus Christi, Tex. He also served three years as senior vice president for the private PhyAmerica Physician Group in Durham, North Carolina.
