Cook: DGA Ad Raps Asa Hutchinson Over $461,000 Birthday Party

Today Jobs and Opportunity, an organization affiliated with the Democratic Governors Association, unveiled a new television ad highlighting what Asa Hutchinson did during his time as a Congressman, D.C. lobbyist and a George W. Bush political appointee.

It’s a hard-hitting ad that takes Hutchinson to task for wasting taxpayer’s money and voting against a lower-income tax cut.

The new ad is titled “Asa Did” and you can see it, along with the ad script, at the end of his story. This is the second ad in a campaign the DGA launched last week.

The ad hits Hutchinson hard over wasteful spending in the departments he oversaw while a member of Bush’s administration. For example, on Asa’s watch, the Transportation Security Administration, spent nearly $461,000 on a banquet for a birthday party for employees.

While the ad doesn’t say the words explicitly, it’s a continuation of the theme of “Asa Hutchinson is out of touch” that we saw in the DGA’s last television ad.

Watch the new ad below.

Script – “Asa Did”

“No Washington politician should ever forget who they work for. But, Asa Hutchinson did. No D.C. insider should allow huge taxpayer-funded bonuses to government bureaucrats, but Asa did. And no political appointee should ever allow half a million in tax dollars to be spent just to throw a birthday party. Well, you guessed it. Asa did that, too. Asa Hutchinson did all that in Washington, D.C., but that’s not how we do things in Arkansas.”
