SFC Fluidics Inc., a Fayetteville-based medical device and diagnostics company, has announced its development of a disposable insulin patch pump that — measuring less than two inches in diameter — is smaller than any other pump on the market.

The company recently secured a Series-B investment of $2 million, and that money will be used to commercialize the product, according to a news release from SFC.

Clinical studies will be launched in 2015. Up to 50 patients will test the pump’s effectiveness, and the product should be available on the market in 2016, according to SFC.

The company has several medical devices that will enter the market within the next three years, said CEO Anthony Cruz.

SFC is a VIC Technology Venture Development portfolio company. VIC, a privately held, for-profit venture development firm, has 15 companies in its portfolio.
