Laine Baker Moves to Evenings As Main Anchor for KFTA-TV

Laine Baker is moving from the early morning anchor desk to evenings for local Fox affiliate KFTA-TV, Channel 24.

Baker was announced Monday as the new primetime news anchor of the 5:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. Fox News Edge newscast. She spent the last four years as the weekday morning anchor for the 5 a.m. KNWA Today newscast aired by local NBC affiliate KNWA-TV.

KFTA and KNWA are sister stations, both owned by Nexstar Broadcasting, Inc. of Irving, Texas.

Baker is a graduate of the University of Kansas with a degree in broadcast journalism. She will join the Fox News Edge will be May 15. In a news release, Baker said she is excited about the move to evening news.

“I have loved my time on KNWA Today, but this is an exciting opportunity,” she said. “Fox is such a unique, anchor-driven show, and I can’t wait to be a part of it.”

Baker is replacing Brad Reed, who recently announced he is leaving the station.

Also on Tuesday, KNWA/KFTA news director Brook Thomas announced anchor/reporter Marissa Kargas will join KNWA Today as a co-anchor, beginning May 26.

Others on the KNWA Today news team include co-anchor J.R. Davis, meteorologist Clint Boone and reporter Rebecca Jeffrey.
