Oswald Named President, GM of KHBS/KHOG-TV

Shawn Oswald has been named president and general manager of local ABC affiliate KHBS/KHOG-TV, Channels 40/29.

The station’s owner, Hearst Television Inc., made the announcement Friday. The appointment is effective immediately, according to a news release.

Oswald succeeds Brian Sather, who was named in December as president and general manager of KCCI-TV, a CBS affiliate in the Des Moines/Ames, Iowa television market.  

Oswald earned a broadcasting degree from John Brown University in Siloam Springs. He was most recently was general sales manager for Sunflower Broadcasting in Wichita, Kan.

He previously was general sales manager for Cox Media in Wichita and vice president and general manager at Wichita NBC affiliate KSNW-TV. 

Earlier in his career he served with Pulitzer Broadcasting as an account executive at Omaha, Neb., ABC affiliate KETV, which is now owned by Hearst Television.

“Shawn has distinguished himself as a multi-faceted broadcast executive throughout his career,” Jordan Wertlieb, president of Hearst Television, said in a news release. “He is the right person to lead the KHBS/KHOG team and he brings great energy and enthusiasm for the opportunity to return to the community where he and his family have so many personal ties.”
