Amazon Inc. said Tuesday (Oct. 22) it plans to open two new distribution centers in 2014 in the Czech Republic to meet growing demand for its services across Europe.

The tech giant said the new sites will guarantee that customers will be able to count on Amazon's swift and reliable services, including distribution during peak holiday seasons.

Amazon plans to create 2,000 permanent and 3,000 seasonal jobs at its two Czech centers, each with floor sizes equal to 13 soccer fields. Amazon will locate one of the two centers near the main international airport in Prague and the other in Brno, the second-largest city in the country.

The Czech Republic's location in central Europe with easy transportation links to key markets in the region–such as Germany, Austria, Slovakia or Poland–and the availability of qualified workers have been decisive factors in attracting the new distribution centers, the company said.

Amazon said when these two distribution centers open late next year it will have 25 sites located in seven European countries.
