Personnel changes set for Fort Smith Fire Department

The Fort Smith Fire Department will host three special ceremonies over the next few days, and the public is invited to attend.

The first event will be a promotion ceremony for 10 FSFD firefighters. The department has five firefighters promoted to driver and five drivers promoted to captain. The promotion ceremony will be held at noon, Dec. 21, at Fire Station #1 located at 200 N. 5th St.

The second event is a retirement and transfer of command ceremony for retiring Battalion Chief Bill Fant. Fant’s ceremony will be held 4 p.m., Dec. 26, at Fire Station #1 located at 200 N. 5th St.

Fant has been a member of the FSFD since May 21, 1973, and the Battalion Chief of “A” Shift since April 3, 2000. Fant will transfer his command to newly promoted Battalion Chief Tery Graves.

The third event will be a promotion ceremony for one firefighter promoted to driver and a driver promoted to captain. This event will be held at noon, Dec. 28 at noon at Fire Station #1 located at 200 N. 5th St.
