NanoMech Signs Deal with Cameron to Provide ‘Breakthrough’ Lubricant

Springdale nano-engineering firm NanoMech announced Tuesday a partnership to supply valve and flow equipment manufacturer Cameron with its TriboTuff lubricant.
NanoMech officials called the product a “breakthgrough in lubrication science,” reducing friction to “near zero for the first time in history.”
Cameron, headquartered in Houston with a major operation in Little Rock, supplies advanced mechanical valves which are a key component to the hydrocarbon supply chain for both oil and gas. The deal to use NanoMech’s latest nano product will result in 10 to 20 new high-paying jobs at NanoMech’s Springdale facility, with more to come, company officials said.
TriboTuff is a result of NanoMech’s patented nGlide technology platform, developed by NanoMech founder and University of Arkansas researcher Ahay Malshe. It is designed to improve the performance of friction-bearing machines and vehicles while decreasing the amount of fossil fuel used.
NanoMech chairman and CEO Jim Phillips said in a news release the partnership with Cameron has helped “fast forward our nGlide innovation into the largest industry in the world.”
Gov. Mike Beebe called the partnership a “testimony to the state’s outstanding scientific research and commercialization breakthroughs leading to vital knowledge job creation.”
“This is the kind of end result we look for when we invest in research,” he said in the release. “We hope that this partnership between Cameron and NanoMech will be an example of many more to come as breakthoughs continue in nanotechnology.”
