Two Stephens Analysts Selected As ‘Best’ By Wall Street Journal

Two Stephens Inc. equity research analysts were named among the nation’s best in The Wall Street Journal’s 2011 Best on the Street survey.

Farha Aslam ranked first in the food & tobacco category out of 39 candidates. Chris Cooley ranked third in medical equipment & supplies category out of 95 candidates.

This is the first time that Aslam, Stephens’ senior food analyst, has appeared on the Best on the Street survey. She has been previously recognized for her earnings estimation in food products in the Financial Times/StarMine Analyst Awards.

She joined Stephens Inc. in December 2004 and currently leads the firm’s food and agribusiness equity research coverage out of the New York offi

ce. Aslam received a B.A. from the University of California and an MBA in finance from Columbia University.

Cooley joined Stephens' Little Rock office in July 2010 as a Managing Director focusing on the medical device and hospital supply sector. He was top ranked for stock selection by both The Wall Street Journal and the Financial Times/StarMine for his work in the sector during 2009.

Additionally, he has received votes in the Institutional Investor All-Star annual survey. Cooley received an MBA in finance and operations management from the University of Tennessee and a B.S. in economics from the University of Arkansas.

The 20th Annual “Best on the Street” survey identifies the top three stock pickers in each of 44 industry groups, based on the analysts' stock-picking skill in 2011. The recommendations on which the rankings are based typically were collected throughout the year by FactSet Research Systems Inc. as part of its business of disseminating and analyzing brokerage-house research.
