Impact: Fund founder honored by UA

FAYETTEVILLE — The petite lady with the long name is gaining an even larger legacy as co-founder of the Single Parent Scholarship Fund of Benton County, one of the first in the state.
Marjorie Marugg-Wolfe received the Outstanding Alumni Award in Education from the University of Arkansas’ College of Education and Health Professions during the college’s commencement Saturday (May 12).
In addition to establishing the Benton County group, Marugg-Wolfe also co-founded the Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund, the state organization. She’s now chairman of ASPIRE (Assisting Single Parents in Realizing Education), which seeks to duplicate the success of the Single Parent Scholarship Fund in other states.
A decade ago, she was a recipient of the President’s Community Volunteer Award from then-President George W. Bush.
Her history with the UA stretches even further back than that with the scholarship fund. Three of her four degrees — a bachelor’s degree, an educational specialists degree and an educational doctorate — came from the UA.
