FAYETTEVILLE — Members of the University of Arkansas Board of Trustees, distinguished alumni, deans of the various university colleges, university administrators, the commencement speakers for each college and special guests were all welcomed to University House on Friday (May 11) at the UA chancellor’s invitation.

Among the more than 60 guests was Alice Walton, the all-university commencement speaker who earned an honorary Doctor of Arts and Humane Letters at the ceremony Saturday (May 12). Another high-profile guest, Rod Paige, former Secretary of Education under President George W. Bush, was speaker for commencement for the College of Education and Health Professions.

Guests mingled in University House’s reception area before adjourning to dinner in an another area. Provost Sharon Gaber introduced all the college deans and the respective commencement speakers to the guests, then UA Chancellor G. David Gearhart introduced honorary degree recipient Alice Walton before offering closing remarks.
