Clean & Green: A New Restaurant Takes Root

Restaurant owners, Jack and Corri Sundell, are hoping their new enterprise in downtown Little Rock will "take root."

The Root Cafe is taking over a nostalgic location to Little Rock residents in the old Sweden Creme restaurant on South Main Street. Not only does the food prepared at the cafe aim to use locally grown ingredients, but the Sundells have also taken sustainability to heart with the restaurant’s exterior.

Vegetation on the roof replaces shingles. The front porch seating area is made from recycled plastic boards. And, the landscaping is edible with wild blueberries and herbs throughout.
