Since Princella Smith’s unsuccessful Congressional run last year in the Republican primary against Rep. Rick Crawford, she has been busy trying to get a political consulting firm off the ground.  Part of that is making frequent appearances on KARN’s Dave Elswick Show.  This is, of course, a good idea and is something I do myself.  KARN is a good forum and it has many conservative and otherwise politically minded listeners.

I did find it interesting yesterday when Princella Smith used most of her time on the show to try to find a date for tonight’s Republican fundraiser with RNC Reince Priebus by getting "hot guys" (her words) to call into the show.  It is nothing scandalous and is certainly fine with me. I just found it kind of funny. So I posted this on Twitter….

That is it. That was all I said. But somehow, this did not sit well with Smith who posted this long late night rant on twitter aimed at me. I will post it just as she tweeted it, but combine the 11 tweets into one (emphasis added is mine.)…

@TolbertReport Normally, I wouldn’t give a childish comment like this the time of day, but since you took it there, I will. First of all, you need to understand good-natured fun when you see/hear it. It’s Dave’s show, and he had fun doing it. Secondly, get a life. For real. You posted a couple of snipey things about me in the past, but I’ve ignored it largely b/c…I realize that you have been doing that to darn near everyone you write about, and, after all, I’m a public figure, so those things come with the territory. For the most part, I guess you’ve covered me fairly, but you need to check yourself when it comes to these personal attacks. Maybe you are unhappy in your own marriage, so you want to pick at me for having some young and single fun. If I showed up with 6 or 7 dates, what is it to you? It’s more donations for the AR GOP and more fun for the people who attend. The more the merrier. Or if I show up with my one date, again, what is it to you? You really should get over yourself. And next time, you need to think twice before you start to put someone on blast because I know plenty of people who would like to put YOU on blast. Alright. Enough with the silliness. @TolbertReport hope you took what I said for what it meant. Hatchet buried…Back to real life.

I woke up to these rants this morning. I suppose Smith thought the question "seriously?" followed by a tame description of the program was over the line. Fair enough. My apologies, Ms. Smith.

They say you are not really doing much as a blogger unless you are ruffling some feathers, so it is absolutely fine if Smith wants to take issue with what I have to say. What I do take exception to is her trying to imply I have an unhappy marriage. The Lord has blessed me with a wife who is the absolute perfect fit for me, and blessed us with two wonderful sons. Smith has actually met my oldest son and should know how important my family is to me. I am fair game. They are not.

A big part of being a blogger is saying out loud what many people are already thinking. That brings with it some hard feelings from people who don’t like to hear it and want to shoot the messenger. It comes with the terriority. But I honestly don’t recall ever attacking anyone’s marriage. Ever. I suppose all of us have different standards as to lines we won’t cross.  I’m pretty settled knowing where mine are.
