A bit of inside baseball new for you on a Sunday in Arkansas politics.
Mark Myers confirmed today some news that caught wind regarding staff changes inside Secretary of State Mark Martin’s office. According to Myers, he will be assuming most of the duties, but not the same title as that held by former Deputy Secretary of State Alice Stewart, who left last month to join the Presidential campaign of Michele Bachmann.
"I’ve been named Director of Strategic Initiatives," confirmed Myers saying he would report to Deputy Secretary of Communications and Education Joseph Wood. "I did pick up almost all of Alice’s portfolio and added it to what I was already doing."
Myers previously served as Director of Community Outreach. He tells me that Alex Reed "still has day-to-day media relations responsibilities, but I will engage on big items."
Good luck to you, Mark – @MarkfromArk on twitter. Here is hoping the problems that plagued the Secretary of State’s office in the first six months are a thing of the past.
