This post is nothing new. Mike Huckabee holds a grudge. Anyone following Arkansas politics knows that. Today, the news is that he is taking that out on Texas Gov. Rick Perry who is considering a run for President. Everyone believes Perry will get in.
In an e-mail to supporters, Huckabee wrote, "For all (Perry’s) new found commitment to hyper-conservatism, he’ll get to explain why he supported pro-abortion, pro-same sex marriage Rudy Guiliani last time."
Of course, Huckabee is referring to Perry’s endorsement of Guiliani over him in October of 2007. After Guiliani dropped out, Perry again passed over Huckabee to endorse John McCain. If you recall, Huckabee stayed in the 2008 primary hoping to pull off an upset against McCain in Texas but dropped out after losing there.
It is also ironic that Huckabee is firing at Perry based on his endorsement of a pro-abortion candidate considering he endorsed John Parke in Arkansas right after Parke had a Romney-like election year conversion on the abortion issue. Of course, petty payback factored into that one as well since Parke’s opponent was David Sanders, who had been critical of Huckabee during the Presidential campaign.
It should also be noted that Huckabee’s daughter, Sarah Huckabee, is working for Tim Pawlenty’s campaign and several former Huckabee campaign staffers are working for Michele Bachmann’s campaign. This could explain why Sarah Huckabee was working the phones to try and put a stop to Arkansas state legislators encouraging Perry to run.
