Gov. Mike Beebe filed a copy of his proposed State Senate map with the Board of Apportionment today, nearly a week before expected.
The new map redraws Arkansas’ 35 State Senate districts to account for population shifts from the decennial census.
Governor’s spokesman Matt Decample said, "We’ve been drawing maps since the last public hearing… this map may change between now and next Tuesday."
Decample also said that the Governor’s version of a House map would likely not be released until next Tuesday because it is much more complicated with 100 districts.
All final draft maps are due to be released on Tuesday, July 19. The Board of Apportionment will vote on July 29 on final legislative maps.
