Central Arkansas has become one of the first areas in the country to develop a regional environmental sustainability plan. Spearheaded by Metroplan, the creation of the green agenda and its strategies only came together after input from the public.
It’s a unique and far-reaching plan that organizers say could have implications for decades to come. At a recent Metroplan board meeting, the environmental guidelines were approved by representatives from four central Arkansas counties.
All told, there were four primary focus areas, which led to 13 strategies and more than 100 actions for local governments, businesses and individuals to undertake.
