Arkansas tourism officials are planning to have a lot of fun to celebrate the state’s Septaquintaquinquecentennial.
Try saying that one time, much less three.
“Some of us just call it the 175th Birthday,” joked Arkansas Tourism Director Joe David Rice at a state capitol rally for tourism and hospitality industry workers today.
The Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism has compiled a list of the "175 Top Places to Visit" in Arkansas to commemorate the upcoming state birthday. Officials are also asking residents and tourists to vote on their favorite Arkansas destinations at www.arkansas.com/175.
On June 15 – the state’s official birthday – tourism leaders will announce the Top 10 list.
“It seems every family has a place in Arkansas that is special to them,” said Rice. “Whether it’s a hiking trail, a museum, a state park or farmers market, this state has an almost unlimited number of options to enjoy.”
