Stephens Media political columnist John Brummett has been on a tear lately taking after Democrats and Republicans in his 3 most recent columns.
Brummett says Republican Secretary of State Mark Martin is "off track" with the missteps of his early administration. Brummett recites Martin’s purchase of a new state vehicle in the midst of a state car scandal, his high-dollar consultant expense to the Soderquist Center for Leadership and Ethics, and the controversy of an FOI request related to the consulting contract.

Brummett also accuses Democratic Attorney General Dustin McDaniel of grandstanding with his latest forensic accounting report on the desegregation case in Pulaski County. He also recounts McDaniel’s office stepping in on occasion at the state capitol to warn against unconstitutional bills.

Finally, Brummett slices and dices Democratic Sen. Mark Pryor’s recent appearance at the central Arkansas Political Animals Club.
Brummett contends Pryor seems lost in the middle ground of Washington, D.C. politics, in effect not contributing as much as he could to solving some of the country’s problems.
Writes Brummett:
“If you think you can solve this with bumper-sticker slogans, you’re wasting all of our time,” Pryor said.
He ought to know, wasting as he was about an hour that an assembly of political animals could never get back.
