The deadline for filing state income tax returns has been extended until midnight, Monday, April 18, 2011, say Arkansas finance officials.

Interest and penalty for late filing will not be imposed on returns filed by April 18, 2011. The extended due date is being implemented to correspond to changes to the federal filing deadline.

Since April 15th falls on a Friday, which is Emancipation Day in Washington D.C., the official deadline for federal taxes has been moved to the next business day Monday, April 18th.  Arkansas’ due date for 2010 is being extended to be the same as the federal due date.

The April 18th due date deadline applies to any income tax return or payment normally due on April 15, 2011.
