In his first TV ad of the general election campaign, First District Democrat Chad Causey stakes out his support for veterans, Social Security and Medicare, and he wastes no time in charging his GOP opponent with supporting privatization of the social safety net program.

The text of Causey’s ad reads:

"Growing up in a single parent household, I was close to my grandfather, a World War II veteran. I’m Chad Causey. In Congress, I will honor his generation by always protecting Social Security and Medicare, but Rick Crawford doesn’t get it. Crawford wants to privatize Social Security – rolling the dice – risking Social Security on Wall Street and the stock market. Rick Crawford is just wrong. I’m Chad Causey and I approve this message."

You can view the spot below.  The Causey campaign says it is airing the spot on cable and broadcast throughout the district.  Of interest, the disclaimer in the ad says it is paid for by the Democratic Party of Arkansas and approved by Causey, which would make it an coordinated expenditure ad.  Typically, national party money will flow to a state party for this type of ad or a candidate could donate the balance of unused campaign funds to a political party for partisan purposes.

Causey’s campaign points to this link on his Facebook page to support the suggestion that Crawford would privatize Social Security.
