Politico reports that the National Republican Congressional Committee is preparing to spend $22 million on federal legislative races this fall.
Interestingly, the NRCC says it will spend money in Arkansas’ First Congressional District, but not the Second – the race between Democrat Joyce Elliott and Republican Tim Griffin.
Republicans also are looking toward a handful of Republican-leaning seats that have been left vacant by Democratic retirements. Among them: Arkansas’s 1st District, Indiana’s 8th District, Kansas’s 3rd District and Tennessee’s 8th District.
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee is playing in Arkansas’ First District as well as the Second District as we reported a few weeks ago.
Content partner, Jason Tolbert of The Tolbert Report summarizes this development succinctly:
"Could it be that the NRCC thinks Griffin’s lead in the polls and campaign cash are sizable enough that they are focusing instead on helping Crawford?" he asks.
