The Fort Smith and Memphis-West Memphis metro areas were the only areas among Arkansas’ eight metro areas to see a decrease in their June to July unemployment rates.

Fort Smith’s jobless rate was 7.8% in July, down from 7.9% in May and down from 8% in July 2009. The Memphis-West Memphis unemployment rate was 10.1% in July, down from 10.4% in June.

The biggest unemployment jump was in the Jonesboro area, with the rate moving from 6.8% in June to 7.4% in July.

Arkansas’ July unemployment rate was 7.4%. The U.S. unemployment rate in July was 9.5%.  You can view data on all of the markets below:
