Noteworthy bloggers and Talk Business contributors Jason Tolbert and Blake Rutherford joined me on this week’s edition of Talk Business.
Tolbert of The Tolbert Report and Rutherford of Blake’s Think Tank mixed it up on a variety of issues ranging from the unfolding state vehicle controversy and its impact on statewide constitutional races to the Green Party of Arkansas‘ chances of capitalizing on the political season.
Tolbert sees a timely opportunity for GOP gubernatorial nominee Jim Keet to take advantage of the state vehicle issue. Rutherford thinks Keet would have more credibility on the issue if he also criticized the growth of state government under Republican Gov. Mike Huckabee’s watch as well as Democrat Gov. Mike Beebe.
The two mixed it up on how this issue and other swirling political winds could influence state races. They also offered their takes on the U.S. Senate match-up and races in Congressional Districts 1 and 2.
Finally, how about predictions?
Rutherford says that Republicans will make gains at the national level, but not to the degree they’re expecting. Tolbert predicts that at least one Republican, Democrat and Green Party candidate will be elected to statewide constitutional offices this fall.
I offered this tidbit: there is the possibility that one candidate currently running for statewide office drops out before Election Day.
