In anticipation of their Tuesday showdown, Senator Blanche Lincoln and Lt. Gov. Bill Halter were our guests on this week’s edition of Talk Business.
In separate interviews following their Friday afternoon debate, the two candidates discussed the campaign on a more personal level. Each candidate provided personal reflections, their campaign efforts, thoughts about each other, and whether or not they would find unity once the race ends.
Lincoln was asked what she thought of Halter as the race had progressed. She said he wasn’t "real warm and fuzzy."
"I’ve tried to be polite and I’ve tried to visit with him a little bit, but I don’t know if he’s real interested in that, but that’s okay," she said. "He has a real desire, that’s for sure."
Lincoln said she would support the Democratic nominee no matter who wins the race. "I’m a Democrat tried and true. I’m going to support Democrats in this election regardless," she said.
Halter was more evasive on the issue of support.
"You know, all these hypothetical questions are ones I just don’t go for and here’s why," Halter said. "We’re going to win on May 18th. If it’s a runoff, we’re going to win on June 8th. I don’t focus on all of the possibility of not doing that."
Halter did have praise for Lincoln. He said she is "a terrific mom" and has done "a remarkable job of raising two boys while maintaining a public life."
