The 3rd Congressional District presents a crowded field of 8 GOP opponents vying for Cong. John Boozman’s open House seat.

The winner will face Democrat David Whitaker in the general election.

The 3rd District has the smallest undecided voter base of the four primary races we polled with only 27% having no preference at this juncture.  In the 3rd District GOP primary, we surveyed 600 registered voters who declared their intention to vote in the Republican primary.  The poll, which was conducted on April 6-7, 2010, has a margin of error of +/-4%.

ANALYSIS: It is no surprise that the top 3 vote-getters in this race are Womack, Bledsoe, and DeLay.  They have the strongest records of electability in the district and have fashioned the strongest campaign organizations so far.  The number of undecided voters is interesting, especially compared to the much larger percentages I’m seeing in other parts of the state.  This race appears headed for a run-off.  Which two candidates will be in that run-off remains unclear.

NEXT: Tonight at 5 pm on Fox 16 News, we’ll roll out the results of the 2nd Congressional District Republican and Democratic primaries.  We’ll post to the web site shortly thereafter.  Tomorrow morning: the 1st District Democratic primary.
