They’re called Vertical Lofts and these striking houses were built to be as environmentally friendly as they are modern in design. When completed, a total of 23 of these urban loft homes will be located on one square block across the street from the old Union Railway Station in downtown Little Rock.
Eleven have been completed and four more are under construction. And when owners of the first seven began moving in, their extremely energy efficient houses had earned a distinction no other homes in Arkansas had received.
These multi-level lofts were the first and only homes in the state to receive a LEED certification of platinum by the U.S. Green Building Council. LEED stands for leadership in energy and environmental design. The Vertical Lofts are also 100 per cent energy star rated with an astounding score of 50 where lower is better, and 85 is considered industry excellent.
